Conrad Bali’s Epic World Whisky Day with Mixology Icon Bili Wirawan

On Saturday, 17 May 2025, Conrad Bali hosted an unforgettable celebration of World Whisky Day that brought together whisky lovers, cocktail connoisseurs, and luxury lifestyle seekers for a night of elevated indulgence. Held at the sleek East Lobby Lounge, the event spotlighted none other than Bili Wirawan, World Champion Mixologist and Bar Manager of Mozaic Restaurant Ubud. Known for his bold techniques and award-winning creativity—most recently named Les Grandes Tables du Monde Mixology of The Year 2024—Bili’s presence transformed the evening into a masterclass in cocktail culture. The celebration began with an intimate Mixology Masterclass from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, where guests got an up-close look at Bili’s signature style. Each participant not only received a certificate but also had the chance to sip a complimentary custom cocktail crafted with Matsui Japanese whisky and vibrant, organic ingredients sourced directly from Kebun Kita—Conrad Bali’s sustainable garden that supports the resort’s garden-to-glass philosophy. The fresh herbs and botanicals added a soulful, earthy dimension to the drinks, grounding each creation in Bali’s own terroir. As the sun dipped lower, the energy shifted into high gear with an exclusive Bar Takeover from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The East Lobby Lounge turned into a vibrant cocktail theatre as Bili served three specialty drinks that perfectly captured his flair for blending technique, story, and flavor. The "Not A Manhattan" stood out with its clay pot aging and unexpected coffee meringue twist, while the "Gold Rush" charmed with notes of sweet vermouth, chamomile, and burnt lemon. Meanwhile, the "Bloody Mary" turned heads with its refined blend of The Matsui San-In whisky, rose and tomato water, sesame, and lemon—subtle yet punchy, like a well-timed mic drop. The evening also showcased the excellence of Kurayoshi Distillery’s signature spirits. Hailing from Japan’s Tottori Prefecture, the distillery is famed for its use of pristine Mt. Daisen spring water and a curated selection of aging barrels—from Mizunara oak to Sakura wood and sherry casks. Their Matsui Pure Malt Whisky “The Kurayoshi” added depth and dimension to every cocktail with its balanced complexity of vanilla, nuts, and raisin undertones. With live music setting the tone and curated cocktails flowing under the soft Bali sky, Conrad Bali’s World Whisky Day celebration wasn’t just about drinks—it was about storytelling, local pride, and a shared appreciation for fine craftsmanship. Guests didn’t just taste whisky that night—they experienced it. From farm-fresh garnishes to world-class pours, every detail was designed to elevate the art of sipping into something extraordinary.
