Día de los Muertos Takes Over Alunê Bali for Two Days of Mexican Flavours and After-Dark Energy

Halloween weekend is getting a cultural twist at Alunê, W Bali – Seminyak. On 31 October and 1 November 2026, the oceanfront destination invites guests to celebrate Día de los Muertos, Mexico’s vibrant tradition of honouring the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed, through food, music, flowers and a whole lot of togetherness.

While the occasion lands on Halloween weekend, Día de los Muertos is about much more than spooky season. At its heart is a joyful celebration of life, remembrance and connection, brought to life through colourful ofrendas, or altars, often decorated with golden marigolds believed to guide loved ones back to the celebration.

There is also a beautiful connection to Bali. Known locally as bunga gemitir, marigolds are an essential part of Balinese offerings and ceremonies, giving the Mexican tradition a familiar touch on the Island of the Gods. At Alunê, these golden blooms become a symbol of the cultural connection between the two destinations, setting the scene for a celebration that feels both vibrant and meaningful.

Of course, no Mexican-inspired fiesta is complete without seriously good food. Enter Chef Silverio Altamirano, a Mexican chef with more than 23 years of international experience across over 20 countries. Now based in Indonesia as a Latin Cuisine Consultant Chef in Asia, he will create an exclusive menu showcasing the bold flavours and rich culinary traditions of Mexico.

As the sun goes down, expect the atmosphere to shift into full celebration mode, with DJ performances, live entertainment and playful activations bringing the venue to life. Think an oceanfront setting, vibrant cultural inspiration and a crowd ready to gather, indulge and move to the rhythm of the night.

The two-day celebration also reflects Alunê’s philosophy of life moving in rhythms and cycles, from the moon and tides to the transition from day into night. It is an invitation to celebrate the connections that stay with us, while enjoying the kind of weekend that makes Bali’s social scene so irresistible.

Whether you are coming for the Mexican flavours, the music or simply an excuse to gather your favourite people for something different, Día de los Muertos at Alunê is one to put on your Halloween weekend agenda.
